Questions about GrabGrab
Which sites does GrabGrab support?
Public videos and GIFs from X (Twitter) are the focus. TikTok, Vimeo, and Facebook also work. YouTube, Instagram, and Bilibili are not accepted.
Can I download YouTube videos?
No. A YouTube link gets a clear "not supported" message. GrabGrab does not send that link to the download service.
Can I download GIFs from X?
Yes. Animated GIFs on X are usually saved as an MP4 video. A post with only a still image may not return a video.
Why did a download fail?
The post may be private, deleted, age-restricted, or have no video. A bad link or a temporary block by X can also fail it. Copy the post link again and retry once. GrabGrab does not log in or bypass private accounts.
Do I need an account?
No. GrabGrab does not ask you to sign up or sign in.
Are there ads?
No. The website and the Chrome extension do not show ads.
Does GrabGrab track me?
The website uses Google Analytics 4 to measure aggregate visits, such as pages and languages. We do not sell personal data and we do not keep a history of the links you download.
Do I need the Chrome extension?
No. Paste a link on grabgrab.fun. The extension is optional and adds a download button on X and Twitter.
Can an AI assistant use GrabGrab?
Yes. It can POST a supported link to https://www.grabgrab.fun/api/download and then save the file URL from the JSON response. See /llms.txt. YouTube is refused.
Do API callers need a key?
The public API does not require a key. When the human check is turned on, the website asks for it, while the extension and assistants use a smaller per-IP limit instead. A private key is optional for the owner's own tools.
What are the limits?
Each network can only prepare a limited number of downloads in a 10-minute window. If you see "too many requests", wait and try again.
What quality can I choose?
1080p is the usual choice for X. TikTok, Vimeo, and Facebook may offer different sizes. Lower resolutions and best available are there too.
Will private posts work?
No. GrabGrab only handles posts that are public without logging in.
What about TikTok, Instagram, Bilibili, Reddit, or Bluesky?
TikTok works. Instagram and Bilibili are not reliable enough, so they are not accepted. Reddit and Bluesky are not accepted either. Use the X, TikTok, Vimeo, or Facebook downloaders.
Is GrabGrab free?
Yes. The website and the Chrome extension are free, with no sign-up.
